Russian Hockey Excluded By FIH


Russia excluded from upcoming FIH Hockey Girls’s Junior World Cup

JWC Banner - Russian Hockey Excluded by FIH - Lausanne, Switzerland: Following yesterday’s recommendation by the IOC to avoid the participation of Russian athletes and officials in international competitions - in order to protect the integrity of global sports competitions and for the safety of all participants – the Executive Board (EB) of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has taken the decision to exclude Russia from the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup scheduled from 1 to 12 April in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Lausanne, Switzerland: Following yesterday’s advice by the IOC to keep away from the participation of Russian athletes and officers in worldwide competitions – as a way to defend the integrity of world sports activities competitions and for the protection of all contributors – the Government Board (EB) of the Worldwide Hockey Federation (FIH) has taken the choice to exclude Russia from the upcoming FIH Hockey Girls’s Junior World Cup scheduled from 1 to 12 April in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Earlier this week, FIH had expressed its full solidarity with the members of Ukraine’s hockey neighborhood at this horrible time.

FIH is in common contact with the Hockey Affiliation of Ukraine and is doing its utmost to supply any help it could possibly, within the hope that the Ukrainian staff will be capable to take part within the upcoming FIH Hockey Girls’s Junior World Cup.

FIH expresses its robust hope for a peaceable decision quickly.
