Wooden pips Mickelson to PGA Tour fan engagement programme’s $8m high prize – Golf Information

Tiger Woods has received the PGA Tour’s first annual Participant Impression Programme, a $40m (£30m) scheme that rewards gamers on their skill to have interaction followers, no matter on-course efficiency.

Woods receives a bonus of $8m (£6m) regardless of taking part in in only one match within the 2020-21 wrap-round season, the PNC Championship in December, at which he completed second along with his son, Charlie (pictured above).

Woods narrowly edged out Phil Mickelson for the highest prize, with the runner-up receiving $6m from the pool.

The remaining gamers within the high 10 had been: 3. Rory McIlroy ($3.5m), 4. Jordan Spieth ($3.5m), 5. Bryson DeChambeau ($3.5m), 6. Justin Thomas ($3.5m), 7. Dustin Johnson ($3m), 8. Brooks Koepka ($3m), 9. Jon Rahm ($3m), 10. Bubba Watson ($3m)

The Participant Impression Programme makes use of a spread of metrics designed to calculate a PGA Tour participant’s degree of fan engagement, together with their reputation in Google search, their Nielsen Model Publicity score, and Meltwater Mentions, amongst others.

The PIP programme represented the primary time that the PGA Tour provided bonuses to members that had been unrelated to their efficiency on the golf course. In 2022, the PIP programme will develop to $50m (£37.5m).
